What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) combines various techniques:

  • ‘Cognitive’ focuses on the way you think, whereas ‘behaviour’ focuses on what you do. CBT elements examine your learnt behaviours, habits and thought patterns. A healthy mindset is allowing your behaviours to influence your mood. Rather than your mood dictating your behaviour.

  • This is the conscious use of language to help change thoughts and behaviour. It enhances self-awareness, communication and motivation.

  • The backbone of SFH! Understanding how and why you feel the way you do gives you control and more self-compassion. Any ‘homework’ given, or mental tools provided, will be backed up by scientific studies so you deeply understand the reason behind them.

  • Each session will include some thought provoking questions about your future self. We will break these down, which will lead you towards a small, achievable goal for that week.

  • Hypnosis helps change unwanted and unhealthy beliefs and behaviours. It’s easier to use imagination, intuition, creativity and knowledge, in this state. Hypnosis enhances the positive psychotherapy work and makes it more likely for you to achieve the small goals set in therapy.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. It’s something we all experience every day, whether you realise it or not.

Ever walked or driven a regular route and noticed you don’t remember the last few minutes? That’s trance. When you ‘zone out’ and get ‘lost in thought’.

In therapy, we use this natural state intentionally to help your brain absorb new ideas, reduce stress, and support change.

What to expect in a session:

  • Each session lasts 60 minutes.

  • The first 30–40 minutes is talking therapy - discussing your previous week, exploring neuroscience, and setting goals.

  • The final 20–30 minutes is a deeply relaxing hypnotic trance, designed to consolidate our work and calm your nervous system.

Hypnosis is not the same as meditation.

  • Meditation focuses on clearing the mind and being present.

  • Hypnosis is goal-oriented, using future visualisation and specific suggestions.

  • It activates theta brain waves, linked to focus, learning, and motivation.

And yes, it’s just as effective online as it is in person!

Why is hypnotherapy different from traditional therapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on the future, not the past. Talking about the past can cause difficult emotions to resurface because the brain doesn’t distinguish between real events and imagination.

My approach is rooted in neuroscience. You will learn how your brain works and why it influences your emotions, habits and behaviours. We can use this knowledge to make lasting changes.

Sessions are scientific, logical, and practical, without ignoring the importance of emotions. Together, we’ll explore what you want from life and create small, achievable steps to help you get there.

Pricing: £95 per session (1 hour), or book a block of 6 for £540 (saving £30)
