“Kismet is a word I’d describe finding Jen at a point in my life when I really needed not only a brilliant therapist but one who also got the ups, downs, and frustrations of dealing with a skin condition. I didn’t need someone to fix my skin condition, I needed someone to fix my brain and bolster my resilience. We all know how mentally debilitating it can be living with a skin condition but it’s hard to know where to go for support to deal with the mental health issues that come with them. I was so lucky that in what was one of the worst times of my life, desperately trying to figure a way out of the dark hole that I was in, I turned to Instagram to see if there was a community of people who also suffered with eczema and other various skin conditions and lo and behold, I came across Jen’s profile and sent her a message and within a couple of hours, I had an appointment booked for a consultation.

Jen is brilliant and explains how the brain works, and gives you some information of what a typical session will look like, and she encourages you to be as relaxed as possible (cup of tea, in your pyjamas if you like). The sessions are great and Jen gives you the tools and real world goals that get you back living your best life, along with a lovely trance leaving you feelings very relaxed. “When I first started with Jen, I was finding it very difficult to name/remember any good things that had happened during the week. She’s kind, empathetic, genuine and caring, and gives you so much space to feel witnessed, heard and seen, in the knowledge that whatever you bring to your session is safe and held. “When I first heard about the opportunity to have hypnotherapy, my first thought was that I’d be clucking around the living room like a chicken, waiting for someone to click their fingers and tell me I was “back in the room”. It’s not something I was familiar with, and I was certainly quite skeptical. I’ve never had counselling or any kind of therapy before as the thought of “talking things through” seemed too daunting and something I’ve never felt comfortable with. However, Hypnotherapy is very much solution focused, and emphasis is on the future and moving forward. So, with an open mind, I decided to give it a go.  From the first session Jennifer made me feel really at ease and was so down to earth and friendly. I knew straight away that I didn’t have to worry about feeling “weird” or “judged” (something my social anxiety unfortunately lead me to feel daily).

After our first meeting I remember saying to my husband that it was “nice, but I don’t really see how it’s going to make a difference”. However, after about 4 weeks, I started to notice small positive changes. Fast forward 3 months, and I would go as far as to say that I am a completely different person. Jennifer has taught me so much, realizing my self-worth and finally being able to let go of past trauma, which had such a hold over every aspect of my life.

My sleep quality has improved as has my IBS. I have achieved things that I honestly would never have thought possible, something which I cannot thank Jennifer enough for.

I feel strongly that you will get out what you put into the sessions and in between, so commitment and effort is needed. I’ve pushed myself in ways I’ve never done before, but the rewards have been enormous.

Of course, I’m still a work in progress (I think we all are really), but I now have a skill set and range of coping mechanisms to face situations head on which I know I will carry throughout life. “I saw Jen for my phobia of enclosed spaces especially having an MRI scan, this was important to me so I could have treatment on my back. In previous MRI scans I had terrified to put my head in and it felt like a coffin. In previous scans I had just been able to get my head out of the scanner but realised that my head was going to have to be right inside.

After my sessions I had with Jen I set off for the scan, I did feel a bit nervous but I surprised my husband when I said he didn't need to come into the scanner room (before he would have to be there talking to me the whole time.)

I went in with an eye mask but only halfway over my eyes, when I went in I could see the roof of the scanner and instead of feeling like it was closing in on me I thought 'oh it's cream, light, not that close, quite cosy!' so I settled down feeling relaxed and went into a deep relaxation.

A little while after I went into a lift that was dark, this would have normally freaked me out but I felt fine, just dark!

I would really recommend Jennifer for any phobia or anxiety you have, she is calming, very knowledgeable and brilliant at what she does.”

“I didn’t know anything about Hypnotherapy until I spoke with Jen. In the past, I had tried CBT and had found it to be successful but at times gruelling, it wasn’t something I particularly enjoyed! However, by contrast I found myself really looking forward to each of my Hypnotherapy sessions. Jen explained about the brain and its functions in the first session, this helped improve my understanding and knowledge of what was happening in my mind and body and therefore it seemed easier to work on issues.
